A splendid Tyrian shekel from the time when Jesus was reportedly preaching in Palestine

PHOENICIA. Tyre. 126/5 BC-AD 65/6. Shekel (Silver, 24 mm, 14.20 g, 12 h), CY 155 = AD 29/30. Laureate head of Melkart to right, lion skin tied around neck. Rev. TYPOY IEP[AΣ KAI AΣYΛO]Y Eagle standing left on prow, palm frond in background; to left, PNE above club; to right, KP above monogram. DCA Tyre 554 (R2). HGC 10, 357 var. (unlisted date). RPC I 4662A. Removed from NGC encapsulation 4282171-004, graded Choice AU (Strike 4/5, Surface 4/5). Very rare and unusually attractive, a splendid example. Struck on a short flan and with minor scrapes on the obverse, otherwise, good very fine.
